Daniel Padilla








Biography

Daniel John Ford Padilla (born April 26, 1995) is a Filipino actor. Daniel's religion is Roman Catholic. He hails from one of the most popular clans of Philippine showbiz, being the son of actor Rommel Padilla and actress Karla Ford (more known as Karla Estrada). Because of his strong resemblance to his uncle Robin Padilla who became famous for his "bad boy" image, he is often tagged with the same image.
He is the bassist of a rock band called "Parking 5" that started in 2010. The band was established along with his brother Jose Carlito "JC" Padilla (Vocalist), and his best friends Katsumi Kabe (Rhythm Guitarist), Lester Giri (Drummer) and Seth Gothico (Lead guitarist).

2010-2011: Youth-oriented shows

Padilla's first acting stint was in 2010 when he starred in a minor role in Gimik 2010, a remake of the hit 90's Filipino youth-oriented show. His character Daniel Ledesma was paired to teen actress Julia Montes.
Growing Up, another youth-oriented show by ABS-CBN, was considered to be Padilla's big break. He reportedly replaced his real life best friend Albie Casiño who was originally given the role as Kathryn's leading man in Mara Clara.

2012-present: Debut as a primetime actor and singer

After two consecutive Sunday youth-oriented shows, Padilla finally landed a role in a primetime television series in Princess And I alongside his previous show's team-up partner, Kathryn Bernardo. He currently plays Gerald Antonio "Gino" dela Rosa, a character whom he describes as "a swaggering rich kid who will change and sacrifice a lot for the sake of love". The romantic-comedy royalty-themed series, which is currently airing, is doing well in the ratings, having already reached the 40% mark and placed second behind Walang Hanggan.
On May 28, 2012, Padilla released his debut self-titled Album, Daniel Padilla. The Album has six tracks with the carrier single Hinahanap-hanap Kita which is also featured in his primetime show Princess And I. According to Star Records producer Jonathan Manalo, Daniel's debut Album has sold more than 10,000 copies in less than a week. On June 17 of the same year, Padilla was given a Gold Record Award for the sales of his debut album.
Most notable success of Padilla's showbiz career are the stampeding crowd of people in his mall shows and the his many fans ranging as young as 4 and as old as 80 years old. He's usually a trending topic on the social networking site, Twitter. He's also one of the endorsers of BUM, a clothing line in the Philippines, among others. Boy Abunda, a Filipino talk show host and TV personality, has been quoted into saying that "In 5 years, Daniel Padilla is going to be one of the biggest stars of Philippine showbiz".
